BMW E46 3 Series Third Brake Light Removal, How-To
Great idea! A lot better than whacking the driver bolt with a hammer!!
Intro was dope Tyler!!! talk about a quality job, my man hooked that up. Really good video!!! Nice job bro
just picked one of these cars up recently and im enjoying it very much.. looking for a cheap parts car for odds n ends.. Suzuki makes a decent product. im impressed with the ride quality.
The impact of sudden acceleration with these aluminum solid mounts, i just cant imagine the impact on the car frame
It's great, zero deflection from bushings. My personal car has this mount kit and the entire drivetrain is solid aluminum bushings. Chassis reinforcement is strongly recommended, for any E46 obviously.
banjo bolt torque values E36, E39, E46, E52 = 35 Nm E38 = 39 Nm E60, E61, E63, E64 = 35 Nm E53, E60, E61, E63, E64, E65, E66, E85 / S54, E86 / S54 = 33 Nm E36, E38, E39, E46, E52, E53 = 40 Nm E60, E61, E63, E64, E65, E66, E83, E85 / S54, E86 / S54 = 35 Nm E38, E53 Banjo bolt M18 = 45 Nm E36, E38, E39, E46, E53, E60, E61, E63, E64, E83 = 36 Nm E65, E66, E67 = 39 Nm
You are one hell of a Brilliant motor ENGINEER, HATS OFF TO YOU BUDDY,😊😊😊😊😊😊🎉🎉🎉❤
Strange I only discovered this kit only over the last week and your last diff rebuild featured this kit, of course. Nice informative videos as always. The petrol (gas) tank is out of my coupe at the moment (meh, brake lines) so I may well drop the back axle and address the horrible flakey rust....
Gyat DAMN that was a sick burnout
Hi Tyler, nice DIY vid! Well done. Could you confirm where you purchased the reinforcing plates. I follow the Jackal Motorsports link and it comes back as a dead / "forbiden" site. Thx
Hello! I'm sorry to announce that they're no longer in business.
@@OLearysBMW Bummer. Thx for the quick response.
@@karlg.9181 You're welcome, man. I recommend plates from Dusan Strutworks - Strut Bar Works. There's plenty of other options as well
@@OLearysBMWThanks, I’ll check it out.
love that you care and treat the cars like your own. there's deff passion in your work!
you gonna document the LS swap process?
I have no part in that, owner of car is doing it at home.
all this needed for a "stock" m54b30 with headers, and a tune? surely the trunk brace, and added points for the front are not needed?
Trunk brace and front reinforcements are more important than reinforcement plates from bottom, in my opinion. Can also get other brace variations that tie all the points together.
Nice video, looks like quality reinforcement.
We need to send you Cali parts, no rust
Great video, always pushing E46 advancements
I've been watching your channel for a while. I've had my sad e46 sitting in my garage for a couple years now. I ran into vacuum codes and ended up doing work on the entire head, hoses, etc. Long story, she runs but really rough and I personally think it needs a timing alignment. I just don't have the time or energy to get her going. I live in a town with basically no BMW mechanics or community. You're the only real BMW person I know of. If it's something that you do. I sure could use the help. If anything, even if she ends up being a donor car, I'd prefer she went to someone like you.
Welp, I'm located in PA. Let me know what you'd like to do and we can go from there.
This is the most legit and meticulous reinforcement job I’ve seen on a e-46! Great job
I NEEDED this video, I had been looking for the correct way to do this on my 330 and this answered all of the questions I had. Thank you!
Are those Maxpenisrods I see?
another great video gonna be watching this a few times when I do mine
@18:00 Spider on the right caliper 🤣
Also love your videos! Would you recommend doing front sub frame reinforcements on E46s as well as the rear?
@@lucac2437 Front subframe reinforcement isn't totally necessary unless you track the car. Even then plenty of people don't bother.
You’re a legend! You and a few others here on YT are the only reason why I have confidence and knowledge to touch my 46, Thank you
Thanks as always, the community appreciates you.
I just recently got a 325i with headers idles like crap on a cold start. No o2 sensors plugged in so do I just follow what you mentioned in the video? Thanks for reading :)
Definitely want upstream sensors within the system.
The 8 quarts explanation really shocked me I do the exact 6.9 quarts, I got a 2001 325ci doesnt leak or burn oil but I guess I’ll be moving up to atleast 7.5 quarts. I thought a oil change video would be a waste of time but you do a good job of explaining your reasons, cool tips and visual aids when talking about other models. I’m glad I clicked on this
Any advice on how to do E46s restorations for a living. I have a couple E46s I'm restoring but as of now it's just a passion hobby.
Do you think a supercharge would be good too or only turbo?
Love your workshop, plenty of space,a dream of mine for years ,to retire, in such working Comfort as you have ,would love to know what the make of your Camera / video equipment is ,Absolutely superb quality
Hello, this video was made with nothing fancy. Was shot on my old phone, then edited on laptop. My newer videos are actually much better quality. Thank You for watching.

uhh.. could i fit this onto an e60
What a fuckin’ legend
What wire gauge size t tap connector did u use???
If you leave some wiggle room for the hub puller to move (don't tighten the wheel bolts but leave them backed out a little bit), you can strike the threaded rod with your bfh after tightening it. The threaded rod and hub puller will push the cv axle out a little bit. Retighten the threaded rod and repeat process until the cv axle breaks free. Don't attempt this method with the wheel bolts tightened. Your hub puller will crack. Ask me how I now.
Thank you!!! That helped me out with my rusted old hubs!
Any idea if this applies to the diesel 6-cylinders as well?
Hi mate, this was good to see and kinda alleviated some of the stress I'm having. I have an F87 M2 with really badly rusted rear hub assembly from the first owner and I am kinda freaked out about going near it. The front hubs are really easy but the rears give me PTSD. Thing is, I already have a new GTS rear hub set pressed onto new bearings and just want to tear the whole thing off - basically I have all the hardware for a complete overhaul of the rear brake assembly, nuts and bolts included. Is the process similar? I can get the whole front assembly off with 4 bolts to the carrier arm but the rear has the axle splines and M2 axles aren't cheap... so, I don't want to damage anything or risk costing myself another couple of thousand in parts. What should i do in this case?? Any advice appreciated!
thank you for all this detailed info, def giving me confidence in my own swap.
What do you think about turbo a M54b25? My engine has 80k miles on it. The reason I want to do it is because it's my first car and also I know all the history of this car and has relatively low miles.
3:32 having spent a few hours under the back of my E46 with the same view today, as the propshaft headed for the camera, I ducked! LOL!
I been thinking of doing this. But I don’t know if I need an engine mount lift.
You can use floor jack and block of wood on AC compressor bracket, that's what I've done for this video.
Better indeed.
When i try to pen my hatch i press the button and it isn't making any noise, half a month it ago it worked prefectly and now i can't open my hatch. Any tips?
a clean and respectable build. Most of these yt videos are noobs putting honda civic type mods on
I cannot believe you got it so cheap!
It's so clean. Great work
Many thanks, the only solution that worked on my x3 e83. Don't forget to remove the drive shaft protection. About ten screws to remove.
After some thought, that power wire that I've shown being covered after removal, is actually unnecessary to be covered. As once it's removed from that point, it's no longer being powered. That wire is only hot if attached to that point. So, once wire is removed simply replace the nut, close the cover and swing it out of your way.
Great video! question just recently purchased a new e46 and looks like someone over torqued and stripped the oem drain plug is there a way to tap and replace it or do i need a whole new oil pan?😢
You could successfully use a thread repair kit, I'd say.
